Imposter Game Generator is a free secret-word party game that runs in your browser. It picks a word, secretly chooses who the Imposter is, and runs the clues, votes and scoring, so your group can focus on bluffing and catching each other out.
What you can do here
- Play on one device. Pass a phone, tablet, laptop or computer around the table with 3 to 50 players. See the main game.
- Play online. Create a room and share a code or link, so each player joins from their own screen. See online rooms.
- Learn the rules. The home page explains the rules, scoring and settings, and the blog adds word lists and ideas.
What makes the game different
The game includes word pictures, Classic and Sneaky Imposter modes, drawing clues, an optional Mr. Blank player, 17 word categories with Easy, Medium and Hard levels, custom word lists, and scores that stay hidden until the game ends so the Imposter is never given away. The imposter game words guide shows every word with its hint.
How we build it
- Free and simple. There are no accounts, downloads or sign-ups.
- Light on data. We don’t keep gameplay data, and the browser stores only a short list of recent words. Read the Privacy Policy for details.
- Fast and plain. The site uses ordinary HTML, CSS and JavaScript with no frameworks, so pages load quickly on phones.
- Honest descriptions. We describe only features the game actually has, and we don’t publish made-up reviews, ratings or statistics.
Who it is for
The game suits friends at a party, families on game night, and groups looking for an icebreaker. Teachers can use it as a vocabulary warm-up with their own words. You choose every word list, so you stay in control of the content.
Third-party tools
Online rooms use the PeerJS service to connect players, and word pictures come from Wikipedia. Both are described in our Privacy Policy.
